A student asked Dalong, “The physical body decays. What is the pure everlasting body?”
Dalong said: “Mountain flowers bloom like brocade, valley streams are deepest indigo.”
“You too must get here personally.”
The pure everlasting body—that’s just you, wondering about your life.
Empires rise and fall, car manufacturers too, bank accounts, beautiful hand fish that walk on their fins in shallow waters are leaving us, and god knows what the market is doing,
but still we are free—
We were born into Buddha Nature
We take refuge in the enduring reality.
Life after life, I’ve listened to the rain,
In New York, Kyoto, Hobart.
If you ask me what I’m doing—no one is listening, it’s just “drip drip drip”
This sesshin all of us will be saved.

Our Summer Sesshin:
There will be personal interviews and deep meditation, teaching talks and some conversations, old friends and new, brilliant teachers, music, great enlightenment, mistakes, and delight.
With PZI Teachers: John Tarrant, Allison Atwill, Tess Beasley, Jon Joseph, Michelle Riddle, and David Weinstein.

This is an extended 7-day & 6-night in-person gathering beginning Monday June 16th at 7:30 pm, and completing Sunday June 22nd at 12:00 pm.

Retreat registration includes room and board as well as free access to morning meditations in the PZI Summer Open Temple.
Mount Madonna Center provides vegetarian/vegan meals during sesshin.
Getting There: For those flying to sesshin, please review Mount Madonna’s guide on getting to the Center here. Shuttles and rideshares may be available. To coordinate, please contact our transportation liaison Donna asap.
*Please Note: Those registering for a campsite or either the single or double cabin options will require a short, somewhat steep, walk to the zendo, dining hall, and bathrooms. Camping gear is not provided.
PZI Members: If you want to attend and are in need, please don’t hesitate to request financial aid through a PZI Scholarship. Contact our registrar Lora for scholarship and any other retreat questions.

Summer Sesshin is our major gathering for the year. We meet and sit together. There will be ceremonies and sutras and teachings and also deep and marvelous silence.
