April is the Buddha’s birthday month. John’s beautifully illustrated book The Story of the Buddha has come out. It’s the sort of legend we can hear over and over again. When we hear the ancient tale, a piece of the story rises to meet your life.
It’s good to meditate and hold a vessel in unsettled times.
Telling the Buddha Story is a great occasion. It’s one of the wonderful PZI events. Join us.

The style of this retreat will follow Pacific Zen Institute’s Open Mind format, which comes out of our impulse to make a Zen meditation retreat that is native to American culture.
Participants typically range from experienced meditators to complete beginners, and often find that this retreat has a powerful effect on their lives and understanding of the practice.
Open Mind carries the deep strength of an intensive meditation retreat inside a form that works for people with different levels of experience. It has a flexible schedule that works well for those who would like to bring a partner or a friend.
No particular background in spiritual practice is required.
