SUNDAY ZEN with Guest Host Jesse Cardin & Friends: One Strip of White Silk

REGISTER
One strip of white silk.
It’s an ancient image in Chan, the whole universe as one strip of white silk. And it is currently on display everywhere: the morning breeze sweeps eucalyptus leaves across the pavement; someone down the street is shouting and I feel disturbed; the Laguna Canyon stretches down to the sea before me.
Shitou said,
We and everything we perceive
are interwoven and not interwoven,
and this interweaving continues on and on,
while each thing stands in its own place.
This is not something to believe but a possibility to open ourselves to. As the mind settles, our sensing sinks down and in, like raindrops penetrating the soil. The entire bright universe bursts into being, a flower simultaneously in full bloom and always unfolding.
Looking forward to sitting with you on Sunday!
—Jesse Cardin

Meditation is not a task with a known goal. It’s something you can’t do wrong, a chance for the things of this world to come towards you and to meet you, for doors to open by themselves, and for us to see where the ancient paths lead.
Waking up is something we do together, in the online temple on Sunday. We love it when you join us.
