Not Making Sense Is Better Than Ice Cream

Description

Explaining things can put you in a bind. The humor of emptiness—a little eternity creeping in—is a panacea, and mind just undoes its problems. If we try to make sense of things, therein lies suffering. “You can’t really explain what inspires.”

Summary

We usually think of making sense of things as our job, tying the threads together, explaining how we see things and why. Ah, the mind and heart scrabble, wobble, dabble, babble and trouble themselves to connect all the dots in the universe. That is itself wonderful but it was wonderful already.

Sometimes praising is better than making sense.

Explaining things can put you in a bind. The humor of emptiness—a little eternity creeping in—is a panacea, and mind just undoes its problems. If we try to make sense of things, therein lies suffering. “You can’t really explain what inspires.”

Vilmalakirti is finally just silent in light of Manjushri’s persistent questioning on the “gate of non-duality.”

The blessing is being alive—leaving behind all the questions and answers, all the worries of midnight, and letting reality in. We’re all held by the Dao from the day we are born. It’s all right!

Questions don’t need to be addressed—the world is already at peace.
