Make Yourself a Raft Intro: A 6-Part Series on Group Facilitation

Description

When we lead a group in the PZI tradition, we offer ourselves to something larger. Our small identity falls away to reveal a vessel that can ferry all beings deeper into the mystery of this life we share. This is no easy task. I’m pleased to offer an online 6-part training and support series for group facilitators. In the interest of maintaining focus, this series will be limited to those who are actively facilitating koan salons and cohort groups, or who plan to do so imminently.

Master Mazu once said,
“T
o advance from where you can no longer advance,
and to do what can no longer be done,
you must make yourself into a raft or ferryboat for others.”

When we lead a group in the PZI tradition, we offer ourselves to something larger. Our small identity falls away to reveal a vessel that can ferry all beings deeper into the mystery of this life we share.

This is no easy task. Out on the open water, we are vulnerable to vicious pirates, unpredictable weather, and whatever shadowy behemoths lurk through the deep. It can be helpful (and enjoyable) to have a community with whom we can share our adventures, compare notes, and learn new skills.

Therefore, I’m pleased to offer an online 6-part training and support series for group facilitators. In the interest of maintaining focus, this series will be limited to those who are actively facilitating koan salons and cohort groups, or who plan to do so imminently.

Each group session has a piece of curriculum, useful facilitation tips and tricks, discussion and experiential exercises, and time for sharing and receiving support from one another. Audio files of each class are provided. You can ask me questions or set up a dokusan (one-on-one Zoom meeting) at any point in the series.

One of PZI’s greatest treasures is its robust network of practice groups and the bold skippers who lead them. We’re grateful for the deep and interesting work our group leaders do, so we’re happy to be offering this series at a nominal fee. I’m very excited for the opportunity to support what you do.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Best,

Jesse (Noble Weasel) Roshi
