Description

Evening dharma talk by John Tarrant, in Winter Sesshin. As recorded January 17, 2018.

Summary

An excursion among the ancestors, through koans. They thought of us, they handed on these stories to us—these talismanic environments, these divinations. The gift is what happens when we hang out with these ancient poems. Different styles of hanging out with a koan—there’s a handmade quality to this practice; an interaction between you and the world and your own true nature. We understand the ancestors by what arises in us. Something about your own place in the universe is revealed. Hard to explain, easy to experience. Like kissing!
