A Zen koan goes, “Who is hearing the sounds of the world?” We are in a time of flowers, mayhem, young people speaking up and calling BS. There is shame, excitement, wild fire in the public world and alchemical fire inside us. The necessary and important thing to do in such a time is deep practice. The Zen goddess of compassion reaches down into the world and touches us and hears us and we hear each other.

The hear the world is to love the world, is to lose yourself, is to keep company with people in the world.

In this retreat we will keep company with each other and the world. There will be conversation, meditation, and the sound of the deepest things.
