Featured Koan: The Buddha's Enlightenment

The Buddha looked up and saw the morning star and awakened.
He cried out, “Now, at last, I see that all beings have the nature of the one who comes thus. Only their delusions and attachments keep them from realizing this."

Meditation is something to learn in order to make your way through the inner and outer forces of your life, and the events great and small. Life is a great and marvelous mystery, but it is not something to be afraid of. So meditation is really a way to inhabit your own life, and love it, and love the people you are with on this journey. It is a way to be fully human. We can all do it, there is no one who is disqualified or wrong in the world of meditation. There are no reservations in life, we are here, and again we are here. We can all manage that. That is why meditation is associated with freedom and joy.

Join me on Sunday for adventures in the nature of mind and heart.

Meditation is not a task with a known goal. It’s something you can’t do wrong, a chance for the things of this world to come towards you and to meet you, for doors to open by themselves, and for us to see where the ancient paths lead.

—John Tarrant Roshi and all of us at PZI

We remain in a PZI Zen Online format for these weekly gatherings, in this time of transition and gradual re-opening. Join us in the PZI Digital Temple on Sunday.
