PZI This Year & Next - Feeding Our PZI Dragon for the Year of the Tiger 2022

There is a solitary brightness without fixed shape or form.
It knows how to listen to the teachings, it knows how to understand the teachings, it knows how to teach.
That solitary brightness is you.

Setting Out Into A New Year – What is that like?

Step by step in the dark
f my foot’s not wet
I found the stone.

—Pacific Zen Miscellaneous Koans, Case 72

We cycle through heavens and hells
because we keep setting out
on the dark roads of ignorance—
dark road after dark road,
when will we be free from birth and death?

—Verse from Hakuin Ekaku’s Praise Song for Meditation

CHRIS:  Whatever our notion of time and timelessness, death, meaning or it’s lack; it seems the nature of being here, embodied as we are, is “to set out.”

COREY:  A new year. Off I go again, setting out on the dark road of ignorance,* intrepid traveler that I am. I’ve been thinking about my “project mind” and how it delineates and separates, sorting things unnecessarily, by habit, while it is the whole of now I crave.

Please join us—the only experience necessary is the one you’ve been having.

Join co-hosts Chris and Corey of PZI for a group conversation twice a month on topics of interest, wonder, or confusion—our intent being to help ourselves sit up and notice that we are alive! We’ll invite special guests, report on interspecies communication, encourage creative outbursts, and try to keep the wind in our collective sails.

This is a gathering in the spirit of our PZI Talk Members google group, but meeting face-to-face online with listening, noticing, and speaking occurring in real time.  With folks such as yourselves, who knows where we will journey?

—Chris Gaffney aka Mr. Crane, & Corey Hitchcock aka Interpreter of the Wild

We are in accord with the old Chan teachers who believed that conversations with others could be decisive in waking up to our original nature.
