A 10-Week Course on the Bodhisattva Precepts, in the PZI Digital Temple

September 14 – November 23, 2021

We are travelers in the dark.
The precepts shine like stars,
illuminating the compass
of your own awakening.

Beginning in September, an intimate group will gather each week to take up the 10 Grave Buddhist Precepts as enduring koans of everyday life. Each week will include a dharma talk, small group discussions led by a teacher, and in-depth shared discovery of a Precept or Vow.

Taking up Precepts in this way is taking up a willingness to be surprised—by our own embedded beliefs, by our unrecognized capacities to help and to harm, and by the nature of awakening and life.

The Bodhisattva Precepts are not rules to follow; nor are they concerned with morality, as a set of standards that aim to define or control a particular culture or part of life. They reveal with exquisite precision where and how we identify with and defend a fixed view—how we divide the Great Body of Reality into what does and does not belong, and separate from our own original heart-mind, the boundless heart-mind of the universe itself.

Time: 5:30-7pm Pacific Time

Recordings will be available for registered participants.
