MORNING TAI CHI |
| TAI
CHI - THURSDAY 8:00am to 9:00am
(Do
not park in the lot for this program - please use street parking
or nearby public parking lots.)
Bob Flannery leads a Tai Chi practice session
beginning July 20th.
The foundation of these sessions is the 108 steps of Royal Form.
These programs are designed for both total beginners
and experienced Tai Chi practitioners.
Bob Flannery on Royal Form and his own background
and experience with Tai Chi:
Beng Ho, a graduate student from Malaysia, founded and led
the Michigan State University Tai Chi Chuan Club. He taught
Royal Form, and old Yang style. I completed his course in
1976 and have been enjoying the practice since then. In 1978
Lui Hok Hoi began teaching workshops at Central Michigan University.
He taught Tai Chi as a "living, growing art," creating
new forms from traditional Yang and Wu styles. I studied for
years with Mr. Lui and still attend the annual reunion of
his students. Other teachers have shared additional forms
and philosophy.
I began teaching Tai Chi in Michigan in 1979.
My archives contain pictures from a class in 1992 at the Rohnert
Park Community Center, which indicates I've been teaching
there at least that long. My intent for the new Thursday classes
in Santa Rosa is that they should allow students from my Tuesday
Rohnert Park class to intermingle with new Santa Rosa students.
The mutual inspiration from a group helps everyone to make
an effort to practice and benefit, and to do their best and
grow.
